produced by CHRISTINA CAMPODONICO

What is the meaning of home? And how does our understanding of it change as we grow up, grow old and leave this special place behind? These are the themes that came up in the first episode of The Drive Home, as Christina Campodonico discussed Horton Foote’s The Trip to Bountiful with her mother and grandparents. The play, which follows the elderly Mrs. Carrie Watt’s last trip to her hometown in Bountiful, Texas, reminded Campodonico of her family’s home in Big Bear Lake, California. The mountain property has been in her family since 1912, but Campodonico’s grandparents have put the acreage up for sale. Campodonico’s mother and grandparents talked about the familiar journey to Big Bear and what it means to revisit this cherished place now.
